Supported Living

Our supported living service aims to support clients with as little or as much support as possible to help them live as individuals, providing opportunities for social integration and work opportunities.

What is Supported Living?

Supported living is a type of housing and care arrangement designed to help individuals with disabilities and long-term conditions to live as independently as possible whilst receiving the support they need.

What does a typical shift look like?

A typical Supported Living shift is dynamic, focused on providing person-centred support to adults with learning disabilities. Shifts can range from a few hours to 12 hours. As a Support Worker, your day may involve assisting with morning routines, personal care, meal prep, or helping individuals get ready for daily activities. You'll support their independence by aiding with household tasks, medication, or community engagement. Your role promotes autonomy while ensuring safety. You might accompany clients on outings, help them pursue hobbies, or attend health appointments. Managing challenging behaviours with de-escalation techniques, each shift is varied and rewarding, empowering individuals to live fulfilling lives.

Specialist training

In supported living environments, staff play a vital role in helping clients live independently while providing the care they need. This requires a deep understanding of the challenges faced by individuals with learning disabilities, neurodivergence, and autism.

Learning disabilities, neurodivergence, and autism awareness Staff learn to recognize how these conditions affect daily life, gaining practical strategies for communication, sensory awareness, and supporting independence. This training ensures staff can provide tailored, person-centred care. De-escalation, management, and intervention training Accredited by BILD and ICM Standards, this training equips staff to handle challenging behaviours with calm, respectful de-escalation techniques and safe interventions, ensuring the well-being of both residents and staff. Epilepsy and specialist medication training Staff are trained to manage seizures, administer medication, and respond to medical emergencies, ensuring individuals with epilepsy and other medical needs receive top-quality care.

Progression opportunities

In supported living, Support Workers have clear progression opportunities to advance their careers.

Senior support pathway

Staff can move into Senior Support Worker roles, where they take on more responsibility, including supervising staff, conducting spot checks, and contributing to the on-call function.

Specialised pathway

With additional training in management techniques from our in-house trainers, those excelling in senior roles can progress further into specialized positions or office-based roles such as Coordinators or Care Quality Assessors, ensuring ongoing development and growth within the company.

Health and Social Care Diploma opportunities

Once staff complete their probationary period, they can enrol in a fully funded Health and Social Care Diploma. Working with our dedicated assessors and training partner, staff gain practical experience and tailored support to develop their skills further. This qualification, alongside hands-on training and guidance from our in-house trainers, opens the door to career progression in specialized roles like live-in care, complex care, and children’s services, or ensuring the highest quality of care is provided to those with learning disabilities.

Your experiences matter to us. Hear directly from our valued clients and carers.

I started my career as a carer for the elderly, but I always felt a strong pull towards working with individuals with learning disabilities. When I was offered specialized training, I eagerly signed up. The training was comprehensive, covering everything from understanding different types of learning disabilities to effective communication strategies and personalized care plans. The knowledge and skills I gained were transformative. I learned how to create a supportive environment that fosters independence and confidence in my clients. One of my most rewarding experiences was helping a young man with autism develop his social skills and see him thrive in a community setting. This journey has not only enhanced my professional skills but also deepened my empathy and understanding. I am grateful for the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those with learning disabilities. The training provided me with the tools and confidence to excel in this specialized field, and I look forward to continuing to grow and support my clients.
