What is Supported Living?
Supported living is a type of housing and care arrangement designed to help individuals with disabilities and long-term conditions to live as independently as possible whilst receiving the support they need.
What does a typical shift look like?
Specialist training
In supported living environments, staff play a vital role in helping clients live independently while providing the care they need. This requires a deep understanding of the challenges faced by individuals with learning disabilities, neurodivergence, and autism.
Progression opportunities
In supported living, Support Workers have clear progression opportunities to advance their careers.
Senior support pathway
Staff can move into Senior Support Worker roles, where they take on more responsibility, including supervising staff, conducting spot checks, and contributing to the on-call function.
Specialised pathway
With additional training in management techniques from our in-house trainers, those excelling in senior roles can progress further into specialized positions or office-based roles such as Coordinators or Care Quality Assessors, ensuring ongoing development and growth within the company.

I started my career as a carer for the elderly, but I always felt a strong pull towards working with individuals with learning disabilities. When I was offered specialized training, I eagerly signed up. The training was comprehensive, covering everything from understanding different types of learning disabilities to effective communication strategies and personalized care plans. The knowledge and skills I gained were transformative. I learned how to create a supportive environment that fosters independence and confidence in my clients. One of my most rewarding experiences was helping a young man with autism develop his social skills and see him thrive in a community setting.
